Mario and I are morning people! One of our favorite morning activities is having our morning coffee on the patio and reading a devotion together. We utilize the available series on YouVersion and RightNow Media, as they are short with a large range of topics. One of our favorite authors is Greg Laurie and we recently began the devotional series “Revival in America”.
Here’s what we learned:
- God wants to save people
- Revival starts with you and me
- God wants to use his church
Simple and true. However, Mario and I came away with the realization we have not been praying for revival, awakening, refreshing in the church in a long time. We also have not been praying for this in our own personal lives. We began reminiscing about times in the past when we had a great expectation for God’s presence and power to come; how we prayed for revival in the church and we longed for a deeper spiritual awakening in our lives. Somewhere along the way we stopped praying for revival, not sure why, but we did. Do we not live in a time when we desperately need the power and presence of God, a great awakening, a revival within the church? The answer is a great big YES!
So how about you? When is the last time you consistently prayed for revival in the church and a longing for a spiritual awakening in your life?
Well here is the challenge. Let’s do it! Let’s start praying for revival in the church and spiritual awakening within our lives, our small group, our friends, family, communities! Let’s see what happens!
“I will remember the works of the Lord, surely I will remember Your wonders of old.” Psalm 77:11
“Will you not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You? ” Psalm 85:6
“I have heard all about You, Lord. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by, and in your anger, remember your mercy.” Habakkuk 3:2
“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
The song line,
“desperate for you” comes to mind.
May we all hunger for revival as we did once before!
Amen! Thank you, for the challenge.
