Let

Together our church has been diving into the 40 Days in the Word campaign. During the very first video, Rick Warren discussed the small but powerful word “LET” and since then I have been deeply thinking about that little word. Sometimes the smallest things can have big effects like a splinter in your hand, a tiny hair in your eye, a pebble in your shoe. These small things can really impact us big time. That is how this little word has really influenced me! At times this little word, “Let”, has made me uncomfortable, convicted and encouraged.

“Let” can be defined and described as to allow, give permission, enable, authorize, empower or approve. That is a big little word! So when I read the scriptures that begin with “Let” they have taken on a whole new meaning for me! Let’s look at a few scriptures!

Let the word of God dwell in you richly.” Col 3:16

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” Psalm 150:6

Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” Philippians 4:5

Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God; believe also in me.” John 14:1

“Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.” Psalm 119:133

Let all that you do be done in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:14

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.” Hebrews 10:23

Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:4

For me as I have meditated on scripture that tells me to “Let” God do something I have stopped and considered will I give permission, allow and release the Holy Spirit to transform me with God’s word.

I encourage all of us  today to “Let” God’s word dwell in us richly as we allow Jesus to have his way in us!

From my heart to yours,

  1. Love it. Let. Powerful word that begs a response. So many things to look at differently. It deepens much of Scripture. Danetta, thank you.
