Just Out of Reach… For Now

I heard this analogy on the radio the other morning and it really stuck with me.

When we have young kids around the house, we put those things of value up high and out of reach. They don’t understand the value of the item (sentimental or monetary) and therefore cannot comprehend how to take care of it as we would. The speaker then went on to talk about how God may be holding back something for now until we are mature enough to take care of it. Wow!

Do you ever feel like “that thing” just won’t ever come? Whether it’s a promise from the Lord or a deep desire on your heart?

This message had me praying and thanking the Lord. There is a call on my life that the Lord has spoken over and over. It is a promise He has given to me that I cherish and it keeps me going in times of discouragement.

I know it will come to pass because the Lord has told me… but sometimes, in my immaturity, I want it to happen more quickly than I am ready for. I am so thankful that the Lord is such a wise and caring Father. He won’t just let me have these things because He wants them to be done well. He knows when I am ready and asks me to trust Him in the wait.

In every trial and achievement, He is teaching me how to to be ready when His perfect timing comes. He reminds me of His promises when I am discouraged and want my timing. He reassures me that when the time is right, all things will come to pass.

Until the time we are ready, let us walk in obedience and learn from every teachable moment so that we are ready when His time comes.
