Think This, Not That

I saw a post on Facebook today that said “7 Things to Give Up.”  Here is the list:

People Pleasing

Doubting Yourself

Negative Thinking

Fear of Failure

Criticizing Yourself

Saying Yes When You Want to Say No

Procrastination

The person who posted it wrote the caption, “I struggle with all of those.”  As I sat there after reading the post, I realized I struggle with all of those things frequently too.  Busted!  As believers, we are to focus our thoughts and attention on God.

So…I am going to pray that the Holy Spirit will help me take those yucky thoughts and behaviors captive and instead, focus on what God says about me in His Word.  I have a different list that I put on the mirror on my dresser where I will see it every day.  It says:

I Am…

Wonderfully Made (Psalm 139:14)

Beautiful (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

Never Alone (Psalm 139)

A Child of God (John 1:12)

A Friend of Jesus (John 15:15)

Accepted by Christ (Romans 15:7)

A New Creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Set Free (Galatians 5:1)

Redeemed and Forgiven (Ephesians 1:7)

Made Alive with Christ (Ephesians 2:4-5)

Chosen, Holy, Loved (Colossians 3:12)

Our God is faithful and loves me more than I can ever know.  I know he will help me to “Think This, Not That!”

Blessings,

Melissa

  1. DaNetta Fernandez told me we need to choose to listen to truth – Jesus and his Word are it!

Something I appreciate about your blog post is that it shows that most of us women struggle with insecurity. We’re not alone.
