Who’s your best friend?

One of the many reasons I love our church is the quality of our Vineyard Kids program.  I feel so blessed to belong to a church that prioritizes supporting parents in teaching their children about Jesus Christ.  My 4 year old and 1 year old love going to their classes, which brings joy to my heart.

I have overheard my 4 year old son sing a song he learned in his class, “Jesus is my best friend” while he is playing at home.  It is such a blessing to hear him sing that song and know that God has already started his work in that precious little heart.

A couple of days ago, an adult asked my son, “Who is your best friend?”  Jacob smiled and said, “Jesus.”  I am so thankful my son is learning about how much Jesus loves him and that he is always with him.

It also reminded me of Jesus’ very important words:  “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”  Matthew 19:14.  Another version of the same message is found in in Matthew 18:3.  “And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”

Let us meditate on these very important words of our Savior.  We need to ask the Holy Spirit to bless us with childlike faith that lasts our entire lifetime.  So that when we are asked the question, “Who is your best friend?” we will smile and say like a little child, “Jesus.”

Enjoy your weekend!
