You Can’t Talk to An Angry Man

You Can’t Talk to An Angry Man

I’ve heard my Father say for years, “You Can’t Talk to An Angry Man.”

It is so true isn’t it?!  When someone is angry, they stop listening to anything you are saying.  Their minds are racing…in the angry direction.

If you talk to them later, they probably won’t even remember what you said in the conversation after their anger button got pushed.

Have you ever been around someone who was angry and then gotten angry yourself and worked up about something that was not even a thought before listening to them?

Have you ever gotten angry and had a difficult time remembering the last part of the conversation you had with someone because you yourself were fuming over what was said?  (Probably most of us have been in this spot sometime.)

Scripture has a lot to say about anger.

Proverbs 22:24 says, “Do not associate with a man given to anger; or go with a hot-tempered man,  Lest you learn his ways, And find a snare for yourself.”

Proverbs 14:29 says, “He who is slow to anger has great understanding, But he who is quick-tempered exalts folly.”

The next time you are tempted to try to talk sense into someone who is really angry, save your breath.  Wait until they calm down.

The next time you get angry, take a time-out.  Try not to jump to conclusions.

Ask God to give you great understanding.  Ask for help to be slow to anger.  I think God likes prayers like that!

Bless you Great Big!
