We are masterpieces. Intricately detailed. Perfectly porportioned. Thoughtfully designed. Called by name. Masterfully created by THE MASTER CREATOR.
“Who in the world do you think you are to second-guess God? Do you for one moment suppose any of us knows enough to call God into question? Clay doesn’t talk back to the fingers that mold it, saying, “Why did you shape me like this?” Isn’t it obvious that a potter has a perfect right to shape one lump of clay into a vase for holding flowers and another into a pot for cooking beans?”
This verse practically leapt off the page during my quiet time. I knew these words were for me and I am guessing they are for you too. It is the most precious imagery ever to view ourselves as clay. I don’t mean from the viewpoint of dirty, sticky mud, but instead the viewpoint of a God looking over the clay that he loves so dearly and pouring himself into the molding and crafting of his creation; you and I.
He takes us and molds us into beauty. He uniquely designed us with quirks that make us stand out or maybe even necessary details that come in handy for our grand purpose that HE, OUR creator designed us for. Like the vereses say some of us are created more “flahsy” than others. Different colors. Different uses. But one thing that is the same across the board is that the creator of the Universe hand crafted you and He calls you by NAME. Not by your cracks or your discolorations. He doesn’t just give you a number. No, he GIVES YOU A NAME.
“If each grain of sand on the seashore were numbered and the sum labeled “chosen of God,” They’d be numbers still, not names; salvation comes by personal selection. God doesn’t count us; he calls us by name.”
That my friends, is freedom. Freedom. Freedom. Breathe it in with me. YOU HAVE BEEN PERSONALLY CHOSEN. You know those flaws that keep popping up no matter how hard you try to kick them to the curb? What about those insecurities that creep up during the most inopportune time? What about the self doubt that roars in your ear when you dare to step out onto the water.
Those are lies. That is the devils best shot at trying to fling comparison at you in hopes that you will never fully grasp onto the purpose that you were crafted for. When we spend so much time admiring, maybe even idoloizing other masterpieces, we forget that we were made perfect too. Perfectly imperfect. Perfectly equipped to tackle the tasks set ahead of us. You may not be the biggest or the prettiest or the most elegant. But you are IMPORTANT. YOU ARE TREASURED. YOU ARE REFINED. YOU ARE MADE NEW. YOU ARE FREE. YOU ARE GODS WORKMANSHIP. Come take your seat as a son and daughter of the KING.
“I’ll call nobodies and make them somebodies; I’ll call the unloved and make them beloved. In the place where they yelled out, “You’re nobody!” they’re calling you “God’s living children.”
So if you’re feeling discouraged about any aspect of your life I would urge you to look for he Creator and reach for your worth. Sometimes we have to trade chasing approval for the awe and wonder of our creator. How wonderful are His ways!
You were created for more. You are a master piece. Find your purpose hidden in the messy and the mundane of your life. Your flaws, your hurts, your struggles are meant to be woven into the grand picture of your story. He sees beauty where you see brokenness.
Sisters, it’s time to let go of the reigns and allow ourselves to be refined. To be remolded and reminded of our roots. It’s time for freedom.
Trade in your unloved and become BELOVED.
