Quiet Time 2.0

Meeting with Jesus early to spend sweet time with Him was a non-negotiable habit for me. I couldn’t imagine this would ever change, since I was an early riser by God’s design.

Well, life has a way of challenging our non-negotiables.

A few years ago, I couldn’t get enough sleep. Occasional insomnia at first, then most nights were troubled, leaving me desperate for more shut-eye. I would hit the snooze button often, then tried spending a few minutes with Jesus in a fog. I felt awful, like I was letting Jesus down.

When seasons change, our Heavenly Father is “able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think according to the power (His Power) that works within us” Ephesians 3:20 (NASB). God wants to give us His power to spend time with Him in His word. He helps us when we cannot help ourselves. What an amazing Father He is!

I started a Bible in One Year devotion, that led to a new quiet time with Jesus. He gives me His power to stay awake, to feed my soul on His word, and His presence. And if I fall asleep, He gives me grace!
