Mourning and Dancing

“We tend to stay away from Mourning and dancing.  Too afraid to cry, too shy to dance…While we live in a world subject to the evil one, we belong to God.  Let us mourn, and let us dance.”

Henri Nouwen

Too often I push away grieving in order to just keep moving forward.  Life must go on. Too often I don’t celebrate because I feel too busy. (and opportunities are missed) The older I get, I see the need to grieve and the need to celebrate.  If we don’t grieve, it comes out some other way…maybe in an upset stomach or sleepless nights.  If we don’t celebrate, we miss the opportunity to mark some of life’s wonderful moments with those we love.

God, give me the grace and wisdom to both grieve and to celebrate better!  Give me your eyes to see.

Blessings,

Thora
