But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8
It hardly makes sense to say everybody’s special. If we’re all special, doesn’t being extraordinary become ordinary? And yet it’s true. We each have extraordinary value and dignity. You are precious to God; He loves you as if you are the only person on earth, and you are precious to others. There are billions of people in the world, but there is only one “You”. You are important.
Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
God has chosen you to be part of your specific family and community. He has a purpose and plan for your life. Your moment of coming to salvation caused the angels in heaven to throw a giant party! Your daily obedience and prayers are like beautiful incense filling God’s throne room with a heavenly, delightful scent.
Next time you look in the mirror and criticize yourself, stop! Remind yourself how beautiful you are to God. Next time you mess up and think you’ll never get things right, stop. Remind yourself that God has chosen you for His purpose. Next time you feel worthless, stop. Don’t believe the lie. You are precious to God.
Take those destructive thoughts captive and be cautious of the words you speak over yourself and your life. Imagine yourself as a small child again…would you speak harshly to one so young and innocent? Of course you wouldn’t! Try your best to remember that God see’s just as that; a young vulnerable, completely innocent child, bought with the precious blood of Jesus.
You are the daughter of the Most High King!
