Stepping Out of our Comfort Zone

Have you had a conversation with someone who invades your bubble! You know what I mean, they stand entirely to close and it makes you feel uncomfortable. Although you want to engage and enjoy their company, learn about them; you just can’t get past the fact they are just too close to you!! We like our comfort zone which is that place where we feel safe, at ease and without stress.

Sometimes God is  like that! He stands too close, invades your bubble and makes you feel uncomfortable. He is pushing, nudging, elbowing and at times forcibly driving us out of our comfort zone. A few months ago God was in my bubble and doing just that!

I exhausted all of my ways to fix the situation and then finally I did the following:

Stop and Listen – Just stop and wait before the Lord. More of you Jesus less of me. Ps. 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Ask for discernment – Is it me or God, the pizza or the Holy Spirit! The truth is God wants to lead us. The Holy Spirit wants to show you what the Father is doing. John 16:13, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.”

Ask others to pray for you and seek out their wisdom – Share with some trusted people what you believe God is directing you in. Proverbs 15:22, “Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success.”

Lastly pray – Talk with God and his faithfulness will lead you.  “If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us” 1 John 5:14.

The interesting thing is the area God was pushing me into has become such a place of joy and purpose.

Comfort zones are made to be broken!! God wants to take us deeper and further as we trust Him and walk by faith.

From my heart to yours,
