Help Us Pray

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”(Romans 8:26)

Prayer is simply talking to God. It is also listening for God’s response. When we pray sometimes we see God answer us in amazing ways. Prayer forms a close bond to our Creator who desires to hear from us and be with us. A passionate prayer life brings joy and fulfillment to us.

But what happens when we become weary in our prayer life? Have you experienced a time when you felt that your prayers weren’t heard at all? Has life become overwhelming and  you cannot find simple words to tell the Lord how you feel? When suffering comes and nothing makes any sense, how do we continue to pray and believe God for comfort and healing?

There is an amazing comfort I have found in Romans 8:26 especially for these times when I cannot even pray.  The Holy Spirit is our helper and He Himself will intercede for us. What comfort this brings my weary, hurting heart when the right words escape me and all I can do is just come to Jesus!

There is beauty in our Lord’s love for us that when we are too weak to pray, He will pray for us. All we need to do is to go to Him as best we can, believing that He will keep His word to us!

It is a mystery how this transaction takes place but when it does something inside of my heart changes.  Sometimes it’s very small and I don’t notice it right away, but that doesn’t mean that nothing is happening. I don’t always understand what God is up to but He does.

More than anything, prayer forms a relationship with God that He desires from us. He is always available, patiently waiting for His children to come to Him in prayer. Our prayers are not to be formal words but a conversation with God that allows us to know Him better.

Take time to sit quietly with the Lord, tell Him how much it hurts, tell Him everything or anything or say nothing at all; He knows your heart and mind. Ask Holy Spirit to intercede for you when you cannot find the words.

The Lord is eagerly waiting to here from you, His beloved daughter.

Blessings,

Linda

  1. “Pour your heart out to Him”. You mentioned several times & ways we go to prayer. Glad you said about the times when it is so difficult & God hears our groaning or tears or really even when the tears run dry. God bless you Linda

  2. We can come to God and talk to him like we talk to our best friend and be honest with Him. It’s a beautiful thing! Thank you Linda for your words!
