No one likes to go to the doctor for a check-up, however, it’s the best way to diagnose a problem before it becomes serious. It’s wise to be proactive about one’s physical health. It’s equally wise to be proactive about your spiritual health.
As much as I love the holiday season, I don’t enjoy the hectic pace or the busyness of it all. Priorities shift to create time to fit one more thing into an already packed schedule. It’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of things to do and to lose track of what’s important.
Sound familiar?
Despite the hectic pace and busy schedule, be proactive and remember to schedule time for your spiritual check-up. Depending on your spiritual fitness level, you may need a daily, weekly, monthly or annual check-up.
Here’s a few things to consider:
- Are you reading God’s word? (Joshua 1:8 & Hebrews 4:12)
- Are you acting on God’s word? (James 1:22-23)
- Are you sharing God’s word? (Romans 10:17 & 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
- Are you spending time in prayer? (Acts 6:4)

We got an elliptical machine and I read my Bible while I’m on it in the morning. (I’m obviously not working at top speed.) I feel like I am getting two things done at once and it motivates me to do both!
This reminded me of the message Sun. on taking care of your soul & even more so when the tempo of your life quickens. Thanks. For me the Word calms the heart.
I start my day, every day in the Word – but I have my checkup when I feel like I’m not hearing Him or when I don’t wake with a song in my heart – I don’t want the gap to widen, so check it.
