God is My Shield

Last week I went through a trial at work.  It was frustrating, and I was challenged. But what was amazing about this trial is that God really showed up in this situation.  I was blessed because God COMPLETELY took care of the situation for me.  He took care of it faster than what I thought He would, and it was one of the moments that I was 100 percent clear that he had my back.  I was in awe of his faithfulness to me.  During my weekly devotions I came across this passage of scripture from Psalm 84: For the Lord God is a sun and shield;

the Lord bestows favor and honor;

no good thing does he withhold

from those whose walk is blameless.

12Lord Almighty,

blessed is the one who trusts in you.

As I read God’s truth to me in this scripture, everything clicked.  God’s word clarified what blessing God was bestowing on me through my small trial.  God is my shield.  He protects me; however, he doesn’t stop there.  He also gives me favor in the sight of other people and gives me honor.  In my situation, my reputation was being challenged without merit, and my co-worker spoke for me to defuse this situation.  God put on this co-worker’s heart to honor me and to favor me.  He was using this individual to accomplish this promise on my behalf.  What is interesting is when I went to thank my co-worker, she responded with “I really did “nothing.”  And in reality, she probably didn’t do anything because it was all orchestrated by God.  He used her to uphold my honor and favor two things that he promises to his followers.  The scripture ends with this powerful truth: Blessed is the one who trusts in you. God doesn’t promise that we are not going to face adversity. We are all going through something now or will soon face some sort of upcoming challenge. But through any situation God’s truth remains constant.  He will honor us, He will shield us, and He will not withhold any good thing.  I love life because through the highs and the lows, God is at work. Sometimes if the antagonists weren’t there we wouldn’t see God’s work so clearly.  I know that my faith was strengthened last week, and I honestly feel blessed because of this trial.  My prayer for you today is that you remember who has got your back. The one who knows each star by name, the one who created everything out of nothing, this same God also knows your heart, and will be your shield no matter what trial you face.

Be Blessed,
