Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a season of remembering our blessings large and small and taking time to pause as the business of the holiday season is upon us. Thanksgiving truly is a season of remembering our God’s great love for us, the bigness of our God and the simple moments that stir our hearts with the joy.

Having a thankful heart is such an important part of living a fulfilled and happy life. When we exercise thankfulness it is a conscious response that comes from looking beyond our circumstance, good or bad, to the very source of our gratitude, Jesus.

Most of us have lived long enough to know the heartbreak, disappointment and the cruel sting of dashed hopes. When we go through challenging times it’s easy to take our mind off of the truth that as Christians we have been forgiven, that we belong to Christ and God knows the plans He has for us and ultimately is in control. There could be no better reason for a grateful heart even when we are in the middle of chaos!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

When we look at the story of Thanksgiving we see God has created us to be free to worship Him, to be free from the things that chain us and enslave us, to be free from our past and the fear of the future. What beautiful reasons to be thankful. God does know the plans He has for us and God will work all things together for our good

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” Ps. 107:1
