Taste and see that the Lord is good… (Psalms 34:8)

I have always felt I loved food.

However, I think part of the equation was not just the food, but the person who made the food for me and the setting in which I ate the food.

Many childhood memories are mixed with people and food.  My Grandmother would make homemade Angel food cakes that were so much moister than what you buy in the store. (Thus, I imagine, the name meaning food of angels)  She would make me these special Chocolate malts and serve them in a fancy glass goblet.  My Mother made the best peach cobbler and still tries to make it when I visit her in Missouri.

I remember going to a picnic once with my Dad and he bought me an orange soda. I did very few things with my Dad alone as he worked A LOT.   It was the first orange soda I had ever had, and even though the soda was great, more special was experiencing this with my Dad.

Take time today to thank someone for something special they made or bought for you.  OR maybe they had you into their home…something not too many people seem to do anymore.  If the person is no longer here, like my grandmother, then thank God for them, their influence, and the memories you have.

May God bless your day with seeing and remembering good things!  Taste and see that the Lord is good!

Blessings,

  1. I used to love going to my grandma’s. She always had cold Pepsi in her fridge and gum in her purse.
