Creativity

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.[a] The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

God is creative. I love that. I’m creative too. Sometimes I get caught up in the mundane things of life and I feel like a sinking ship.

Life is a lot more interesting when I can find the beauty in things around me. When I can stare out my kitchen window at the fluffy clouds outlined against a periwinkle blue sky and breathe in the beauty of the soft wind rustling the vivacious green leaves in the trees; it is then that I feel wholer, I feel inspired, I feel creative.

When I was younger I went to clubs. Music moves me. I still listen to club music, I find the rise and fall of the sound and the build up and release of tension in a song to be cathartic, it evokes emotion, it cleans me out.
At one point in my life I was a drug addict. I used drugs so I could feel. Because the feelings I had inside were so unmanageable that I had to repress them, keep them down. Repressing my feelings made me numb- so I used music, I used dance as a release. But now that I don’t need drugs to feel, I find that I can appreciate music, dance and art to a fuller extent.

God fills me up through his creation. When I appreciate life and beauty, when I realize the potential God has placed in me to create, when I can dance to the rhythm of the birds in the trees I know who I am, I know who He is and I can go on in life with passion.
