Relational Lubrication

Tact is relational lubrication- that’s what Thora said a few Sundays ago.

Sometimes whether I like it or not I find myself in a situation where I have to step back, take a deep breath, and ponder about what on earth to do next.

In some ways when I’m faced with challenges that require reflection I don’t mind because it gives me an opportunity to extend the olive branch. Even though it’s a struggle I like to come out of the other side of something difficult knowing I did the very best I could have done.

Often times when navigating muddy waters before I send that email, make that phone call or have that meeting I’ll talk to someone I trust who will give me objective advice. I’ll choose a person that I know is not scared to ruffle my feathers by telling me I’m not right. Then when I AM right I know it’s not smoke and mirrors. I am only human and I don’t have all the answers.

Sometimes for relational lubrication I have to “phone a friend”!

  1. I agree with this as well. I’m just wondering how one finds those people who aren’t afraid to ruffle my feathers and call me out when I’m wrong. I don’t think I’ve ever had that in my life before and much less from a Godly perspective.

My own judgement often fails me and I find myself in need of a little accountability in life.
