Let the little children come

The gift of family is such a blessing.  I was able to be there with my sister when she gave birth to her first child, my oldest niece.  It has been great to see my niece Madelyn grow up.  She has been raised in a Christian home, I’ve seen her go through Christian preschool, attend church regularly and also go to vacation bible school through the years.

Recently, she made the most important decision she will ever make in her life.  She committed her life to Jesus Christ and accepted Him as her Lord and Savior.  This has been such a sweet time.  She chose to be baptized at her home, in the pool in her backyard.  What made it even more special is that she was baptized on her 12th birthday.  She invited family and friends…both saved and unsaved.  What a great witness!  The pastor who baptized her did a great job of sharing the big picture of God’s redemptive plan for mankind and explaining exactly what her baptism means.  After her baptism, we enjoyed wonderful fellowship with everyone there.

I am so very thankful to be a part of the family of God and to be blessed to see my sweet niece join the family as well.  The opportunity to be a part of her special day and help her celebrate her decision to follow Jesus is something I will always remember and be grateful for.  I am looking forward to seeing God’s plan for her life unfold in the future.  For He says in His word (one of my favorite verses and the verse I wrote in her baptism card):  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

What a wonderful verse to ponder during quiet time with our sweet Savior.

Have a blessed week!

Melissa
