The Christian life is full of ups and downs. God never promised it would be easy, but He did say He would never leave us nor forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5)
As believers, we have wonderful “mountain top” experiences where we feel close to God and hear him speak lovingly to us.
But in between these mountain tops we sometimes go into the valleys. Are you going through a difficult time? Three things to focus on when we are in the valley are:
- Spend quality time alone with God
- Count the many blessings He has given you
- Ask others to pray for you and with you
And remember this verse (one of my favorites): “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.
It doesn’t say some things – it says ALL things. This includes the hardest times in our lives. What an awesome God we serve! Even in the tough times, we know that God will bring good out of our sufferings. Let us praise Him for this and thank Him for His amazing love.

Thank you Melissa! I’ve been hanging on to that verse this year. A couple days ago I saw a question in Genesis chapter 24 that helped me refocus: “Whose daughter are you?” Even though it’s not God asking the question in that passage I just went ahead and thought of God asking me the same question. I’m His. 🙂
Melissa;
Thank you for your inspirational posting. I especially like the fact that you emphasized “That in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.
