When Valentine’s Day rolls around, I always spend time thinking about the truest Valentine anyone could ever have. Jesus Christ. There is no other being who could ever love you more. He suffered and died for me and you – and anyone else who chooses to follow Him so we could spent eternity together. His love is so great, it is more than my mind can fathom.
Here are five characteristics of God’s love. Meditate on these and let Him surround you with His perfect love that never fails.
- God’s love is a gift.
But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
- God’s love is for everyone.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, so that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
- God’s love is patient.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9
- God’s love is inseparable.
Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:39
- God’s love is everlasting.
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3
Thank you, God, for being our true Valentine now and always. Your love is amazing!
