Change

Life is full of change.  I often don’t like it.

This year has brought the death of my Mother, putting my father in a nursing home, and my daughter leaving for college, (and just recently deciding it was too much of a change and brought too much anxiety to be that far away from home.)  Covid has brought challenges to all of us.  My son is a senior and so we are doing all the  senior things again and thinking of what he will do next year.  So many things.  The person I most want to talk to about all this change is my Mom.

But I can’t talk to her.

I want to talk to her about my kids growing up and  changing.  I want to talk to her about senior years and anxiety.  I want to talk to  her about when I graduated and what it meant for her. I never really thought about how difficult it was for her to have me move away—and to not see my face and hear my voice every day.  This past year and a half have brought many difficult things for almost all of  us.  2020-2021 have been tough seasons for our country and world.  It feels like “crazy time” too often, although I know God is still on the throne.  I know God is in control.  I know God is good.

What time is it for you?  I believe it is time to be gentle with ourselves.  It is time to be kind to others.  It may be time to celebrate and it may be time to grieve.  It may be a time to embrace, or to laugh, or to cry.  It is time to have patience with ourselves, and with others.

It is time to spend with our loving heavenly father so He can pour more of Himself into us.  (I feel this is the only way one can possibly make it out of 2021 in a sane way.)

The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes that there is a time for everything.                             Ecclesiastes 3:1-8     New International Version

A Time for Everything

1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

2  a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

May God bless you in your current season and may you have grace for yourself if moving forward takes longer than you had imagined!

Blessings,

Thora
