It’s exciting to begin our church wide study of “What on Earth Am I Here For.” Already the holy spirit has been softening my heart to God’s truths found within Brian’s messages, our devotionals, and my small group’s discussion. One truth that resonates within me is that life is all about about God. I’ve been challenged to apply this personally…. my life is not about me… It’s about God. I was created for him to serve his purposes that he has planned in advance for me to do. This is a game changer. When we see life through this lens, it makes every detail in our lives so much more important. In fact many of our mundane tasks seen with this perspective become divine appointments. Opportunities to be used by God. These divine opportunities may not seem like a big deal from our Earthly perspective, but from God’s perspective, they are grand. It’s part of His purpose and His purpose endures forever (Psalm 33:11) Sometimes I think about changing the direction of the path God has put me on because I am feeling discouraged, I am under attack, or I am just feeling bored. But the truth of the matter is that there really are only jobs that I can do. There are also only jobs that you can do. As women of the faith, we need to remember that it doesn’t matter if the world makes you feel irrelevant, you are always relevant to God’s purpose. So in the past few days I have started evaluating what areas of influence God has given me. What relationships has he given me? What responsibilities are under my care? Some of these are work related. Some of these are family related, and some of these are church related. What I am discovering is that God has actually given me a lot of influence. It is my prayer that the next 35 days will reap a harvest in your life. I pray that God speaks to you about the influence you have and that you realize how powerfully God can use you. Don’t underestimate your calling and don’t downsize the unique qualities that God has designed in you and for you. I will leave you with these lines from Casting Crowns’ new song, “Only Jesus”
All the kingdoms built, all the trophies won will crumble into dust when it’s said and done
‘Cause all that really matters
Did I live the truth to the ones I love?
Was my life the proof that there is only One
Whose name will last forever?
And I.I.I… I don’t want to leave a legacy
I don’t care if they remember me
Only Jesus
And I.I.I… I’ve only got one life to live
I’ll let every second point to Him
Only Jesus
Blessings to you in your journey,
Jessica
