To ponder something is to reflect on it. Websters defines the act of pondering as, “To think or consider especially quietly, soberly, and deeply.” In my husband’s words, “You chew on it!” Well lately I have been pondering three phrases in regards to my passion for Jesus, “eager expectation”, “pursue with determination”, and “to be filled”.
To pursue Jesus with an “eager expectation” is to seek with confidence our Lord with a focused hope in the Lord’s work within us, through us and around us. Hebrews 12:2 tells us to keep our eyes fixed on God who is the author, founder and the perfecter of our faith. Jesus, our example, with eager expectation and a focused hope fixed His eyes on the joy set before Him as He endured the cross, shame and pain.
Psalms 63:2 declares, “Your love (God’s love) is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live.” David continues in verse 8 by saying he “clings to God”. The word “cling” means to “purse with determination”. To declare God’s love is better than life and there is not another way to live! When we pursue the Lord with determination we find we become hungry and thirsty for God, satisfied only by Jesus and that glorifies God.
The phrase “to be filled” comes from Ephesians 3:19. “May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete (filled with) with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” The fantastic truth in this passage of scripture is that it is God Himself, the Holy Spirit of Christ is the one who fills us with more and more of Him!
Ladies these three phases have been stirring in me. I wanted to share with you my heart and what God is doing and I am pondering. May your passion and love of Jesus continue to grow with “eager expectation,” pursue with determination,” as you are “filled!”
