“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.”
This morning I was thinking about this portion of scripture found in Luke 22:31-32. Jesus tells Peter there is a testing coming, Satan himself wants to sift him. Wow that’s intense. Then Jesus says to Peter, “But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. “
Have you ever pleaded in prayer for the salvation of another? Pleaded they would not fall into sin? Pleaded for God to intervene? But then it happens! The denial, the running.
We know Peter’s story the night before the crucifixion when he denies Jesus three times and the shame that followed. Was Jesus’ prayer not answered?
Remember God sees the road we walk in it entirety and he is working throughout the total journey. I remember Mario and I hiking a new trail in Sedona. The trail was confusing! Many times we asked each other, “Are we going the right way?” The path got narrow and steep, we passed several hikers all who were unsure what was up ahead. Then we came around a bend and there it was! The trail opened up into a beautiful valley! What a sight!!!
Don’t lose hope! Don’t stop praying! Don’t think it’s over, that you’ve lost, or it’s the end!! God is working all things together for His glory. The journey is in God’s hands! His faithfulness never falters, his hope does not disappoint, his grace is sufficient! You will one day come around the bend in the trail and say beautiful!
From my heart to yours,
