We all love to be delighted in. My five year old daughter almost every day wants me to watch her dance or sing. Sometimes she chooses a beautiful dress to dance around the house in. She eagerly awaits my eyes. There are times when she wants me to cover my eyes, so when I look at her transformation, I will be captivated all the more. She studies my face, wanting me to say she is beautiful, that she is special, and most importantly that she is loved in the deepest way. As adults we still want someone to really see us. We want someone to know our face, to see our beauty and to see we are special. We want to be loved in a deep way. But many of us lack that awareness that God loves us just like that. We forget that He truly delights in our life. And because we forget, sometimes we look to unhealthy places to fulfill this need. Recently in my year- long reading of the Bible, I came across a treasure of scripture. I have never read this proverb before, nor have I heard a sermon on it. But the beauty that was there was too good not to share. In Proverbs 8:22-31 we see a beautiful picture of the Trinity. Jesus is speaking, “The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old. I was appointed from eternity from the beginning, before the world began. When there were no oceans, I was given birth, when there were no springs abounding with water; before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth, before he made the earth or its fields or any of the dust of the world. I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep, when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth. Then I was the craftsman at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence, rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.” This proverb gives me a mental picture of God and Jesus together in creation. Jesus says he was filled with delight day after day, and that he delights in mankind. The verb is active: delighting in mankind. We have a God who is actively watching us. Not to judge us, but to love us. Just as I enjoy watching my daughter twirling around the house, Jesus watches us live our daily life. And our life brings him joy. Why does it? Because of His love for us. I pray that today you bask in this truth that your life, as messy as it may be, was bought at a price. Jesus gave his all for you. You are His daughter. You are His delight!
Be Blessed,

Love the image of God delighted in us…loving us in a way deeper than we imagine.
