Lately I’ve been struggling with selfishness. On many occasions lately, I know what I should do, what God wants me to do, but instead, I want to sit down and rest or crawl back in bed, or wait for someone else to do it. So I started praying about it. I needed motivation. I needed encouragement.
Then a particular verse kept popping up. It was one of my son’s daily verses at the Vacation Bible School program he attended. Then it was a verse in one of my devotions. A few days later it was the verse in a different devotion I read. Then someone else mentioned it – either online or in a conversation, or in a book I read.
The verse I’m talking about it this: Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9.
This reminds me of something I’ve learned about Jesus. In addition to being my Redeemer, my Rock, my Savior, my Lord, He wants me to know He is my Encourager. And He always knows what I need, before I know I’m going to need it!
Thank you, Lord, for being my Encourager. Help me to remember to come to you first for whatever it is I need and remember that you are always faithful.
Is there an area of your life where God has encouraged you recently?
Blessings to you,
Melissa
Your post has encouraged me greatly. Thanks for sharing.
I like rest too.
So easy to look other places when we have a fresh fountain of encouragement at our disposal…
We all need that encouragement so much! It is also sweet that even when we are wrong & go to Him, He doesn’t rub our nose in it but encourages–He meets our need.
Thank you! This couldn’t have come at a better time.
