Tim Keller said, “You don’t really know Jesus is all you need until Jesus is all you have.” Finding God in the midst of the pain is where we find grace for the moment and peace for our soul. Finding God’s transforming love in the painful circumstances of life is where we find His presence that adds the “sparkle” to our lives. I remember Phil Strout’s message a few years ago, “Jesus + Nothing = Everything!” It is in the difficulties and the pain that become the seeds of faith and hope cultivating and producing the fruit of righteousness, peace and joy in us. It is there we learn the gift of true surrender; for surrender yields in us humility and acceptance. There is a grace that is found in surrendering to God in the middle of the pain that allows us to see His greatness and majesty as never before.
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalms 23:4
Joy comes to the sorrowful ~ Hope comes to the needy
Peace comes to the stressful ~ Love comes to the brokenhearted
Redemption comes to the sinner ~ Mercy comes to the unforgiven
Grace comes to the unbeliever ~ Freedom comes to the prisoner
“The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need.” Psalms 23:1
