The other day, I had plans. I had my two kids and now that it’s summer, I’ve been trying to plan our days out because my 4 year old is out of preschool. But it didn’t take long until I realized our day was not going to go the way I had pictured it in my mind. A friend couldn’t make a play date and once we got out of the house, things were forgotten, etc.
I was so frustrated by the afternoon. I put my 2 year old down for a nap and told my 4 year old to play quietly in his room. I went to my own room grumbling and picked up my devotion book and my Bible. I needed to relax, catch my breath and find some peace.
One of the verses in the devotion caught my attention right away. “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21. The last line of the devotion was, “Thus you stay close to me on the path of peace.”
I realized immediately my mistake. I got up that morning and failed to pray about the day and hand it over to God. I was so thankful that when I went to Him for quiet time, he reminded me of my shortcoming and how to do better. May I not make the same mistake in the future!
Happy June!
Melissa
