Long Haul People

Long Haul People

I am fortunate to come from a line of what you might call “Long Haul” people.  My Dad, except for three years in the Air Force, worked the same job his entire life.  (Retiring only when health required it)

My Mom has been a consistent help and support for my Dad and for her kids and grandkids…for my entire life.  She has been a prayer warrior even when it looked like the prayers weren’t working.

My sister has MS to the point of being totally bedridden. My Mom has never given up helping her, and hoping for her, and praying for her.  She is a long haul person.

In this age of easy divorces and ending friends over a face book post, I am more determined than ever to be a “long haul” person.

I don’t want to be one who gives up quickly.  I want to be a bulldog, so to speak.  I want to be a person of courage and perseverance.  I don’t want to give up. I suppose we can relax in heaven.

I really want to be a long haul person.  I pray God will help me develop the character to do that.

Dig in for the long haul.

Blessings,

Thora

  3. Because I do not come from “Long Haul” people, being a “Long Haul” person is super important to me too. In it for the “Long Haul” seems very distant and almost like a fairy tale to me, but after 14 years of marriage and two kids, we are definitely living it. 🙂 So glad I’ve found a “long haul” church family. <3
