Today did not go as planned. Three out of the four of us in my family are sick. Fun travel plans were cancelled. The kids needed more attention than usual today and my husband and I struggled with patience and discipline. Whew! But now, the kids are in bed asleep and I have a quiet moment. So I’m turning to one of my favorite passages in the Bible for comfort.
Psalm 121 became a favorite passage of mine when I was on a mission trip back in June of 2005. It was the theme of our trip. It became even more special when I learned this past April that it was one of my Grandpa’s favorite Psalms, too. He went to be with Jesus back in January of 1990.
Psalm 121
I lift my eyes up to the hills – where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip – he who watches over you will not slumber;
Indeed, he who watches over you will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you – the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life;
The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
I read this Psalm on days like today, when I am tired and not feeling so great. But I also read it on good days as well. Thank you, Jesus, for your word and your comfort anytime we ask for it.
Blessings to you,
Melissa
