We all have them. Piles of stones mark our past where God did something miraculous. In Joshua chapter 4, the Israelites laid a stack of 12 stones because God miraculously stopped the flow of the Jordan.
I can honestly say my past looks a lot like the Rocky Mountains. There were so many times when God healed, God redeemed, God lead, God took, God gave. Why? What was all that for?
God wants us to remember these mighty acts of His gracious hand so that we can have even more faith for what He brings us through in the future. We set up piles of stones to remember faith. Faith leads to trust. God wants us to trust in Him more. The future is so very uncertain, and we need to be able to look back and remember those piles of stones where God did something gratuitous, spontaneous, or miraculous.
I’ve stacked many stones by writing in my prayer journal, drawing a picture God showed me, or etching a word He showed me. I even write down the things I am a tiny bit uncertain about because time will tell whether or not it is from God or from my imagination, and it will also help tune my ear to him.
About 5 months ago, I stacked another pile of stones. I was blessed beyond my capacity of thought. I know God has plans to prosper me, but this was even completely off my radar. He has plans to give us all a future and a hope. It’s so evident by the Rocky Mountains He has left in my wake as I continue to walk with Him.
Take time today and look back at your piles of stones. What did God want you to remember?
Love, Amanda
