If you’ve heard the expression, “Rejoice always,” I’m sure you have also felt unheard or as if your current situation was unjustified in feeling anything but rejoicing. Friend, I understand and have been there. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 is where the Lord tells us to, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances…”
I’m sure you’ve been in a situation where rejoicing is the last thing you want to do. Maybe you’ve felt like you aren’t even capable of it in the midst of a storm. And while that may all be true, so is the promise that follows that verse. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 reminds us of the truth in every situation, “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.”
Oh sisters, I know that feeling of being in a pit of sorrow in the storm you’re facing. I have been there and know the struggle in even speaking the God at times because of the untrue distance that is felt while facing trials. But the best reminder I can give you for this truth is to remember you are not rejoicing in what you are facing, but Who.
Because of Who we can trust and run to in all circumstances, we are capable of rejoicing not in the truth of our circumstance, but in the Truth of Who God is! Hold tight, my friends, He hears and sees you. Press on. Rejoice in Him.
