At the start a new year, followers of Jesus tend to focus on setting goals in regards to reading and studying the Bible. There are many blessings that come from being rooted in God’s Word. The one I have been thinking about lately is that it reminds me of my identity in Christ.
In our busy culture and fallen world, sometimes it is easy to forget exactly who we are and what eternal blessings we have in Christ.
I am listing just a few identity statements and the correlating scriptures so that we can start a new year focusing on our true identity in Christ Jesus.
I Am Loved
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
1 John 4:10
I Am Free From Condemnation
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
Romans 8:1-2
I Am A New Creation
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17
I Am God’s Workmanship
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:10
I Am Secure in Christ’s Hand
“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.”
John 10:28
Let us remember these truths so that we will focus on who Christ is, who we are and the work he has for us to do.
