There may be sorrow now, but eternal Joy will one day come.

It seems like almost everyone I know is going through pain.  Sick family members, operations, a death in the family, my parents in Missouri have had no heat for too long during recent ice storms.  As Christians, what is our perspective on these things that cause us sorrow?  It has to be eternal.

Even though we may sow in tears, at some time, we will experience joy and laughter.  I love this Psalm.

 Psalm 126

When the Lord brought back the captives ones from Zion,

We were like those who dream.

Then our mouth was filled with laughter

And our tongue with joyful shouting;

Then they sad among the nations,

“The Lord has done great things for them.”

The Lord has done great things for us;

We are glad.

Restore our captivity, O Lord, As the Streams in the South.

Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting.

He who goes to and fro weeping carrying his bag of seed,

Shall indeed come again with a shout of joy,

Bringing his sheaves with him.

When the Kingdom of God comes fully, when we are in heaven, we will experience the good and the fruit God has for us.  (Of course we want it NOW.  But for some things, the answer is in heaven.)

Today we may be crying…but “tomorrow” in heaven, it will be another day…one filled with restoration from the Lord who loves us, and walked through the sorrowful times with us.

 God be praised.

  1. Thx Thora for the reminder, for He has Indeed done Great things….
    I recall Brian’s fantastic message: The Already and the NOT YET.
    RESToration is coming, and I REALLY look forward to His Perfect Heaven.
    May we all stay strong and encouraged, looking forward to the fulfillment of His Promises.

  2. I love the Psalms & have a song about the tears thing, says our tears are only raindrops, watering crops we will surely reap. This also speaks to the study we are doing now–pure heart w/not selling out the future for the present (perspective on the future rewards). Sometimes hard, but it is truth. God help your parents.
