FEAR the FROG

The nations are in chaos, and their kingdoms crumble! God’s voice thunders, and the earth melts! The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Psalm 46:6-7 (NLT)

In little more than a week America will inaugurate President-elect, Donald Trump. Right or wrong. Win or lose. Republican, Democrat, Libertarian or Independent … this is it folks, and what our country will look like for at least the next four years.

With the nation so divided, there are many who are given to fear right now regarding our country and the future. But nothing has changed. Our nation has been divided and in chaos since its inception. It is ruled by many who do not follow Jesus or the Word of God. This world is ruled by the prince of darkness. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. 2 Corinthians 4:4 (NLT) I’m not worried though, because THIS IS NOT OUR TRUE HOME. This world we live in is only temporary.

If we call Jesus, Lord, HE is our true leader, our source, our protector. Jesus keeps us on the right path, and only Jesus and His Word should be our moral compass – not our President, Congress or other political leaders.

We are directed to, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” (1 Peter 5:7). If you are living in fear or dread (a close cousin to fear) regarding the transition to the new administration, then perhaps you’re not fully trusting God for your future.

A popular acronym for the word fear is: False Evidence Appearing Real

Where do you place your trust? My suggestion is to put your trust in the FROG: which is an acronym for: Fully Rely On God

Kyle Montgomery, a broadcaster for the Los Angeles Clippers recently tweeted: “I hope Donald Trump is a good president. Wanting him to fail, is like wanting the pilot to crash the plane that we are all on. REMEMBER THAT.”

Whether you voted for the President-elect or not, as Christians it’s now our job to follow the words of Timothy in 1 Timothy 2:1-4:

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. [Emphasis added]

FEAR NOT, God is with us. Mr. Trump may be President … BUT JESUS IS STILL KING!

FEAR THE FROG!

Blessings in Christ,

  1. Great message Kathy! Agreed! I’ve always loved F.R.O.G. Didn’t know F.E.A.R. Thank you for showing me that. We all need to pray for our nation and our leaders regardless of who you stand for…but most of all, Pray for God to come into peoples lives who will take away that F.E.A.R. Blessings to you all!

  2. Thanks Kathy – I knew FEAR, but had never heard FROG.
God has this, I’m excited about America. At the VERY least, the definition of insanity – “keep doing the same thing and expecting different results” does not apply to this presidency.

  3. Kathy, I’m reading this at a BK restaurant, and if I didn’t have any dignity left, I would’ve started clapping. Man, you did an amazing job saying so many great things in so little space. I love and admire you, and I’m grateful you’re part of this team. You are right: We need to pray for our leaders and trust the King of Kings.

  4. Excellent article Kathy! I also knew about FROG but not about FEAR. No matter who our president is or will be, God still sits on the throne. My trust is in Him and Him alone. Thanks for sharing this!

  5. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insight on this blog, Kathy. I didn’t know either F.E.A.R. or F.R.O.G., but have them written down now! I am in complete agreement with everyone, we must pray for our leaders regardless of our political views and preferences.

  6. Yes, we must pray for our leaders, agreed. I do think, however, that Jesus has called us to do more than tell our fellow peace-loving neighbors who are in danger of being deported (example, Muslims, etc) and who have experienced an increase in hate crimes due to all the hate rhetoric of our leaders, that “if you are living in fear or dread regarding the transition to the new administration, then perhaps you’re not fully trusting God for your future.” Yes, we must encourage prayer and trust in God, but we should probably also stand up and support justice, calling out injustice and hate when we see it. Prayer PLUS action. The best way to show our Christian Faith is with loving action. Not just telling someone that if you have fear, you’re not trusting God enough and then we hope for the best. “And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love. And they’ll knooow we are Christians by our love.”
