I’ve been following the Nobel Prizes and wow how exciting. People are creating and innovating amazing things. I read to my 6 year old Lucy some of the research that’s being done now to encourage her to explore.
Our world is so exciting. It seems like sometimes I forget about the wonder of creation. There are researchers out there with a tenacity to figure out the way things work and I find it so fascinating.
The Nobel Prize in Chemistry went to 3 Chemists who have built tiny machines that will “…likely be used for the development of new computer chips, batteries and energy systems…”. These tiny machines are “…roughly one thousand times smaller than the width of a strand of human hair….”!
The Nobel Medicine Prize went to a man who experimented in the 1990’s with autophagy- “…the “self-eating” process that lets a cell break down and recycle some of its contents which rapidly provides fuel and building blocks…”. Now there is a surge in research about how to ‘…develop drugs that can target autophagy for the treatment of cell problems involved in many serious diseases’.
By simply exploring the way things work, asking questions, watching processes, we are able to deduct and reason how to apply our findings to solve problems. The things we see are a fraction of the possibilities of the things we could find.
I love it when I am reminded of the wonder and creation of God, so calculated and purposeful. I image that He finds such pleasure in His creation unraveling His masterpiece.
Erica, I really was fascinated to read this blog! I love your last statement that God finds pleasure in His creation unraveling His masterpiece. I just hope when we give God credit and worship Him as the Designer. Thanks again for your insight.
