“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”
The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.” The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”
Judges 6:13-17 NIV
You’ve got to love Gideon! I have also asked the Lord, “Why is this happening to me? To my family?”
It is easy to imagine a pain free life of wonders in our imaginations.
However, we live in a fallen world. Like Gideon in the hand of Midian, we encounter a broken world where bad things happen. We feel small and weak.
But also like Gideon, God tells us to move forward and that He will be with us as we fight against the things in the world which come against us…even when we feel weak and small and not powerful. God often nudges us to be part of the solution to the problems we see. (like He did with Gideon)
On this earth…we push forward knowing God is the One who gives us strength. He is with us. He will strike down all of our enemies.
One day, we will be in heaven and not have to worry any longer. But for now…let God send you!

Thora
