May I have a “Word” please?

I’ve chosen a “Word” for the year.

This year my  word is “BE”!  Be Authentic!  Be who God created me to be!  (Basically I want to be the me God created me to be.)

For many years, I have prayed about and come up with a “word for the year”.  Yes, I do also write goals for the year!  However, besides Bible reading, when the going gets tough and life is  hectic and you are trying to get the kids out the door for school with lunches in hand,  remembering “one word” is about all I can realistically hang on to some days.

In the past, I have had words such as “purpose,” or “perspective”.  When I get  into a “situation” during the course of the year—by this I  mean one of those times when I am overwhelmed, stressed, very tired, got my feelings hurt, quite sad, exceedingly glad, or worried— I think of my “word.”  I might ask myself something like, “OK, what is the best perspective in this particular situation for the long haul?”

“What is the perspective of the other person?”

“What is the worst thing that can happen?”

Or,

“Does this project I am thinking of taking on fit with my life purposes?”

“Am I taking it on because of guilt or trying to please someone?”

“Am I living my life on purpose, or am I letting others set my agenda for me?”

For 2015, after praying, I have chosen the word, “Be.”  I know that sounds pretty simple.  Simple is what I need.

Too often I am distracted and not paying attention to the now.  I usually find it easier to DO than to simply BE.

Just BE  God’s child!

I am noticing how short life is these days.  You never know what tomorrow may hold.  My parents are both having health problems.  So, I’m thinking I better choose to BE –to enjoy what I have and who I have, while I have them.

God, help me BE who you want me to be and do what you want me to do!

Blessings,

Thora

Would anyone else like to share a word for the year they have chosen?

  1. Wow! This is just what I needed today! During my hectic day, I tend to find myself asking if I am DO-ing my best to be a light for Christ. And more often then not I feel that my crazy schedule and my attitude toward my schedule does not show off my light nearly as brightly as I had hoped it was shining. But your word BE really made something click on my head! So I hope you don’t mind, but I’m also adopting BE for 2015! Thank you for today’s writing!

  2. I love the simplicity of this. We tend to over complicate life sometimes and this is a great reminder that sometimes simpler is better!

  3. I felt that the word God gave me for 2015 was “constant”. I’ve made some good changes in my life that I need to stick to, so the word fits right in!
