I love how God reveals himself to us differently in a variety of settings. I cherish my quiet time alone with the LORD, as well as the way I experience His presence during corporate worship. Recently I have discovered that I have special moments with Him while I am teaching my children about Him as well.
My two year old daughter has a little Christian book with three songs in it. The last one is “This Little Light of Mine.” I started singing it to her one day while we were looking at it. Now when she sees that book she turns it to that page and gives me the book with a huge smile on her face and says, “Sing!”
This has become a very sweet time for us. As I was singing the words to her, I remembered how I sang them when I was a young child. And it led me to a certain scripture, as well as a time of self-evaluation.
In Matthew 5:16 Jesus said, “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
In the busyness of life, it is easy for me to forget my purpose: to let my light shine so that others may see Jesus in me. Especially those who are in the deepest darkness. Dear Lord, please keep this in the forefront of my mind and ask for your direction on how and to whom you want me to shine your light that is within me.
What a joy to know He will answer that prayer and give me guidance!
