A Blanket of Prayer

Prayer Blanket

I read a prayer exercise the other day called the prayer blanket.  It was so nice; I wanted to share it with you!

Sometimes I see my daughter wrapped  up in the softest blanket we have in our house and it makes me think of this exercise.

The blanket exercise is to give you a tangible reminder of how God’s amazing love surrounds and embraces you every moment of every day.

I read about it in a book by Larry Warner.

The only thing you need is a soft, cozy blanket…and probably to be in a room by yourself.

Here is what you do:  you simply sit with the blanket wrapped around you while you focus on always being surrounded in God’s love. You can imagine the blanket to be God’ love wrapping around you.  Simply sit and focus on always being surrounded by God’s love.

Spend some time simply letting God love you.  Simply, be with Him.

When you finish, if you wish, you can journal of your experience sitting in the awareness of God’s love embracing you.

You may wish to read Ephesians 3:17-19 before you begin (or any other meaningful verses on the Love of God).

Blessings,

Thora

  1. I also like an idea my friend Rosanne gave me. She said she sits at her table and pictures Jesus sitting on the chair across the table from her, and she talks to Him. God knows sometimes we need concrete, tangible objects to help us connect with Him. Love the idea of the blanket!!! Thanks for sharing it, and for your wonderful message yesterday about prayer!
