Slightly Imperfect

I ordered these two travel coffee mugs from a company called The Daily Grace Co.* They were having a sale and these were listed as “slightly imperfect” so they were deeply discounted. When they arrived in the mail, I inspected each mug to see what exactly made these “slightly imperfect.”

Except for the tiniest chip on the It is Well mug lid, these look absolutely perfect to me!

The quality control standards at this company must be very rigid for these to be considered slightly imperfect.

It got me thinking about my own imperfections, which are not just “slight,” and, at times, feel incredibly overwhelming.

Thankfully, when God looks at us, He doesn’t point out all of our flaws. When we accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior, all of our imperfections (sins) were wiped clean.

As new creations in Christ, we desire to live holy and blameless lives as we grow in our Christian journey, but we can never be completely successful because we are still human. We will struggle and we will remain imperfect in many ways.

In his letter, the Apostle Peter, reassures the believer that, yes, it will be a struggle, but God is doing good things in you.

“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10 (NASB)

Be encouraged, ladies, that on those days when your imperfections seem to overwhelm you, God is using them to help you grow in goodness and faithfulness.

I love my slightly imperfect mugs and God loves His slightly imperfect children.
