Gratitude

So much is going on in our world.  I have been on overload and feel like I need a grace period.  I thought you might also, so I wrote out a section of the “Daily Examen” (for prayer) which I found helpful in my prayer time and hope you do too.

Review the day with gratitude.  Gratitude is the foundation of our relationship with God.  As you look back through your day in the presence of God, note its joys and delights.  Look at the work you did, the people you interacted with.  What did you receive from these people?  What did you give them?  Pay attention to the small things—the food you ate, the sites you saw, and other small pleasures.  God is in the details.

Remember to express your Gratitude to the Lord.  (even in crazy times)

Blessings,

Thora

  1. Thora – thank you. So often we think of our work days as negative because it is work after all, right. I love thinking in this aspect, thinking of all the opportunities gave to us throughout the day to live like Jesus!!

  2. I have found that especially in crazy times it’s important to focus on gratitude. It helps to give us balance to the craziness. When I talk to my dad who is in lock down at an independent living facility, I ask him every night what he is thankful for and after over two month he finally is thinking of things to be thankful for throughout the day! We have so much to be thankful for and most especially the one who gives us all good gifts!!

  3. Thank you, Thora. So important to remember to express your gratitude…just what I needed to be reminded of.
