Don’t Quit!

Don’t Quit.

There are no guarantees or perfect formulas in life and relationships! Every living and breathing person knows this.  It’s a mistake to believe that Christians and Christian families are “safe.”  Christians can be as susceptible as any others to our culture.

Perhaps you’re going through a difficult time, or maybe your child is.  Maybe something devastating just occurred and you’re asking, “What just happened?”  Or you wonder if you’ll ever make it to the other side.  Or, maybe you see something coming and you want to prepare yourself.  In all of this, I say, “Don’t quit!”

Don’t quit — when your efforts to intervene in a loved one’s terrible choices fail.

Don’t quit — when family harmony disappears, and everyone is on pins and needles.

Don’t quit — when something you have hoped for is never realized.

Don’t quit — when you have to enforce consequences for improper behavior.

Don’t quit — when your teen says he hates you or threatens to run away.

Don’t quit — when you simply can’t live like this anymore.

Don’t quit—when your prayers don’t seem to be answered.

What do I mean by saying, “Don’t quit”?

I mean, don’t give up living the Christian life.  Don’t give in to self-destructive behaviors.

It’s hard to keep doing the right thing, but do it anyway.  Ask God for the grace to keep going.

Don’t quit!

Blessings,

Thora

  1. Amen! This is a powerful blog and I thank you for sharing it. Truth is, that we always end up in a better position if we can hang on and let God do what needs to be done that we can’t.

  2. So true. I think everyone will face the temptation to give up at some point in life Don’t quit is so true, so valuable.
