God With Us

I love the song “O Come Immanuel.” My favorite version of the song is done by the band Third Day. I have been known to turn it up way too loud in my living room while singing and dancing like a crazy woman!

There is a joy from this song that just fills my heart and soul every time I sing it. I believe it is knowing that God wants to be with us, to be with you, to be with me!

That truth is especially precious to me as a widow who gets lonely, especially at Christmastime, and I have received much comfort from knowing this.

The scriptures tell us this:

““Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1:23 NLT

But there’s more to the song. It cries out for a savior to come and ransom his people who have been taken captive:

Oh, come, oh, come, Immanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appears

Rejoice! Rejoice! Immanuel
Shall come to you O Israel!

The Lord Jesus is calling to each of us, those who have become His followers and to those who don’t know Him. His longing is to be with us. We can choose to answer His call and receive the greatest gift ever given at Christmas, Jesus.

If you have never asked Jesus to be your Lord, the leader of your life, may I encourage you to come to Him this Christmas? Just as you are…

Jesus made a way for all of our sins to be completely forgiven by His death on a cross and His resurrection three days later. He wants to give you eternal life for your future and to help you lead a new life here on earth, a life filled with His love and His help throughout all the struggles we all face here on earth. It is the best decision you will ever make!

You can receive this gift by receiving Jesus through a prayer, like this:

Lord Jesus, I believe you love me and you came to earth and died for my sins on the cross so that I could be forgiven. I confess that I have sinned in my thoughts, words, and deeds. I ask you to forgive me and make me your own. Jesus, I receive the gift of you this Christmas! Help me to live for you from this day forward, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Merry Christmas everyone!!
Blessings,

Linda

  1. Thanks for the blessings & simplicity of the gospel. Christmas was a difficult time for Mary & Joseph–God gave them blessings on the way. And the most blessed woman, Mary was also a widow. Love you–I can see you dancing & singing like a crazy woman.
