Vineyard’s 24/7 Week of Prayer

“The heavens tell of the glory of God.

Day after day they continue to speak;

night after night they make him known.

They speak without a sound or a word;

their voice is silent in the skies;

yet their message has gone out to all the earth,

and their words to all the world.”

Psalm 19: 1-4

God placed the stars in the heavens to shine light on the earth and to be a witness to His glory.  I love these verses…..day after day they (the stars) continue to speak and make Him known.  Without a word or a sound their message goes out to all the earth and their words to all the world!!

“Where is the newborn king of the Jews?  We have seen his star as it arose, and we have come to worship him.”

Matthew 2:2

“……Once again the star appeared to them, guiding them toBethlehem.  It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was.  When they saw the star, they were filled with joy.  They entered the house where the child and his mother, Mary, were, and they fell down before him and worshiped him.  Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Matthew 2:9:11

These wise men followed the star for weeks on camels.  They knew about the star and they were watching for it.  They knew that this star would guide them to the place where the King of the Jews was being birthed.  They wanted to see Him for themselves and offer gifts and honor to this little one.  And it filled them with great joy to make the journey in anticipation of worshiping Him.

“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this message for the churches.  I am both the source of David and the heir to his throne.  I am the bright morning star.

The spirit and the bride say, “Come,” Let each one who hears them say, “Come.”  Let the thirsty ones come – anyone who wants to.  Let them come and drink the water of life without charge.”

Revelation 22:16-17

“Jesus replied,” If you only knew the gift God has for you and who I am, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”…….

Then Jesus told her, “I am the Messiah!”

The woman left her water jar beside the well and went back to the village and told everyone, “Come and meet a man who told me everything I ever did…..” So the people came streaming from the village to see Him.”

John 4: 10,26 ,29 and 30

This week Vineyard is hosting the torch for Lite the Fire’s 24/7 week of non-stop prayer.  Each year Debra Wilson along with Sean Flanagan head this up under the leadership of Dave Johnson.  There is so much preparation that goes on leading up to this week; prayer, prayer, prayer, planning each station, prayer….you have the idea.

“I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below.”

Acts 2:19

This past Thursday I was helping, along with several other people, to set up the prayer room.  At the end of the night we (Rebecca Brown and myself) walked over to the prayer room to place a sign on the door telling people where the 24/7 prayer room would be and as we were walking we looked up just in time to witness a falling star.  This was no ordinary falling star.  This star got brighter as it was falling and just before it disappeared behind the prayer room, the tail glowed orange.  It was amazing.  Both Rebecca and I have never seen anything like it.  We ran back to the prayer room and told everyone what we had seen and that it looked very eerily just like the Lite the Fire logo on all of Debra’s signs.

This was a sign.

God wants His people to know what He is doing.

The significance, while not completely understood, has not been lost on any of us who saw or heard about it.

“I will bring them also to my holy mountain of Jerusalem and will fill them with joy in my house of prayer.  I will accept their burnt offerings and sacrifices, because myTemplewill be called a house of prayer for all nations. For the Sovereign Lord, who brings back the outcasts ofIsrael, says: I will bring others too, besides my peopleIsrael.”

Isaiah 55: 7-8

We believe that anyone who can walk, drive or run to the prayer room this week…should.  Don’t miss out on what God is doing.  He is up to something.  He is here in our midst and wants to meet with each of us.  The place has been prepared and is holy and wonderful……and waiting for you.  So is He!!

Love, Kim
