One Step At A Time Is Fine

I love God. I love my church. I love my small group.

But when life’s storms erupt all around me, I cower in fear and my faith falters. In the natural fight or flight response mechanism that we all have, I default to flight.

I hide. I cry. I don’t want to do anything that might bring even more troubles my way. I feel paralyzed with fear because I don’t know how or when the storms will end and if the sun will shine again.

Will there be a resolution to my health insurance appeal that doesn’t involve me facing a bill in the thousands? Will God ever intervene in a tough work situation? Am I destined to be single forever?

I’m sure you’re thinking of your own list of troubles too. We all have them.

Matthew 6:34 (NIV) says, “…do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Troubles will come every day. Without God by your side, that can be a daunting revelation!

There’s not a verse that says your problems will be resolved every day.

There is only the incredible promise that God knows, He cares, and if you let Him, He’ll carry the burdens of this world for you.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

Knowing that, you can face each new day with renewed faith and strength to keep moving…to take that next step as you wait to see the top of that staircase.

Some days, it might only be one step you take. Other days, it might be ten. The point is, you don’t have to hide in fear while troubles surround you. Just take that next step in faith.

God bless,

Jennifer
