Make Me New

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me!” Psalms 51:10

CREATE.
RENEW.

Let those words sink in for a minute…and then breathe a big sigh of relief. Those words are actions that God uses to describe what he does FOR US when we simply cry out for help. It’s no longer our job to spend hours on Pinterest trying to force creativity or trying to make time for a bath to feel renewed for a hot minute. No. No. No. This kind of lasting and life giving renewal is PERFECT because it comes from the perfect Father. We can stop striving and SIT at his feet. He will renew, create, and so much more when we call on His name. If your heart is weary, He is willing. (Speaking from experience here).

STEADFAST.

1. fixed in direction; steadily directed:
a steadfast gaze.
2. firm in purpose, resolution, faith, attachment, etc., as a person:
a steadfast

If you know me you know consistency isn’t a strength of mine. So naturally, the word steadfast in terms of faith always intrigues me. But the kicker is, that the Bible says that we have a helper named the Holy Spirit and He is the master of consistency. So, when we hand over the reigns of our lives, being steady and strong in our faith and the direction we feel called in becomes more of a dance than swimming upstream. The theme of not relying on our own strength (or our own perseverance skills for that matter) is seen pretty clearly throughout the Word and for that friends, I am thankful!

So let’s pray that God would create in us NEW hearts that shine pure light even in the dead of night. God, not only make us new but teach us how to stay on the path you have for us! So create, renew, and pour life into our dry bones and keep us close to you.

Thankful today and always for a shepherd who leaves the 99 to find the 1. If He’s patient in pursuing a relationship with a mama who always feels a bit lost, then He surely will be knockin’ on your door too.
