“Let’s Slow Down and Enjoy!”

“Let’s Slow Down and Enjoy!”

My Mom used to say this at dinner time.  She would say it at Family dinners and holiday dinners.  She had worked so hard to prepare a nice meal, and then everyone seemed to eat so fast, and it was OVER.  After all of that work!

Life can get very hectic.  We all need to choose to, “slow down and enjoy” more often!  Many times, I find myself too focused on surviving the current season, rather than celebrating Jesus and trying to see what God is doing in the midst of life. It is way too easy to go into survival mode and to overlook and forget about why we do some of the things we do.  We forget that even brief encounters with others might be an opportunity God is presenting us with.

Is there some small thing we can celebrate in the midst of a busy life?  When I’m in celebration mode, I focus on Him.  I would like to snap out of survival mode more often and move to celebration mode.  Seriously, I only have to look as far as the Christmas narrative to see celebration at work in the lives of people such as lowly shepherds. For them, there was something about Jesus that triggered absolute joy within their souls. They ran to see Him! When they left Jesus, they told everyone about Him and celebrated!  They took notice, slowed down and enjoyed the Savior.

I can slow down and enjoy a sunrise or sunset created by my Heavenly Father.  (If I slow down and take the time that is.)

I can appreciate the fact I live in air conditioning.

I can appreciate the uniqueness of the people in my life.  God is very creative isn’t He!  Think of the different people in your life.  Are there things you can notice and enjoy?

Do you need some reasons for celebrating?

We can celebrate because Jesus was born to save us.  We can celebrate because we have access to His power and the Holy Spirit.  We can celebrate because we have God’s presence in our   lives.  We can celebrate that at the end of our lives we will go to heaven.  (Let’s face it…that is a sweet deal!)

Let’s all, “Slow Down and Enjoy!”

Blessings,

Thora
