And I’m Free, Free Fallin

Doesn’t trusting God feel like a free-fall sometimes? I’ve never gone skydiving before but I have a fear of heights so I kinda feel like I’m free falling or at least beginning to when I’m at the top of the stairs.

Sometimes when I allow myself to take on things that I’ll have to depend on God to get done, I get scared. I tend to air on the side of controlling- so trust is a hard thing because I’d rather just get it done and do it myself. But when I take on big projects that’s not really a possibility and so I find myself on my knees-which is good for me.

I am a capable person not afraid of hard work and a good challenge. Often I have found myself in the middle of a challenge looking around and wondering to myself ‘What have I done!’

In those moments I have a couple of choices. Out of all the choices I have, the best choice for me in that moment is to put my hands down, take a deep breath, and return to my “altars”.

Altars are resting places along my life‘s path where the Lord has rescued me, answered my prayers, handled the problem, stepped in to make changes.

My altars are where I remember that God is faithful, I remember that my God cares, and that He sees me. He loves the challenges I take on and He wants to bless those things because He wants to bless me.

So when I start to get stressy bunny- I take a moment and reflect on God‘s faithfulness- so worry can’t touch me- because my God is big enough, and He cares about me, and He cares about the things I love. He won’t let me drown in deep waters and He won’t let you either.

  3. I can so relate this message. I am a doer and that is how I was taught by my loving parents. But the Bible teaches to fully rely on God our Father.

  4. It’s for sure a great reminder that God is in control and He gives us the strength to complete whatever task He places before us. Thank you, Erica!
